The Pwning Life Movement Begins!

[Read about starting a blog here]

I think the Pwning Life movement is off to a fine start! :D We officially have 4 5 people tracking their progress pwning life in the form of blogging (myself included). Everyone listed their goals in a way that was good for them.

People Pwning Life

In the comments let me know what you think of the idea of making a page on the blog listing all of the people pwning life. I think it would be a cool way for everyone to connect with each other.

Gabe Hawkins begin with a list of long and short-term goals, then turned that list into 3 things that he thought would improve his life the most. He’ll be keeping a daily journal tracking his progress and updating us once a week in the form of a blog post and video.

Theoricus did a “bucket list” list of 30 things he wanted to do before he died.

Brain (aka The Music Bucket) didn’t do any kind of list making and instead discussed “positive goal setting” and left us with a manifesto of sorts: “It is my goal to turn my composing, teaching, performing, and producing skills into a livelihood.”

[Late addition to the list]

Tyler (aka maugrassia) actually completed (mostly ;) ) the 30 want/do/be list. The list is pretty epic too, I think you’ll have fun reading it (I did).

Every Way is the Right Way To Start

I wanted to point out that even though the three people above took my advice and started a blog, NO ONE (except for the late addition of Tyler) used any of my tactics (“word for word” anyway). They took the idea and made it their own. Do whatever works for you! There are thousands of books and systems for “pwning life” (under different names) and we’ll talk about a lot of them on this blog. The thing is, NO one book or system is going be the complete pwning life fix for you. Even when I release my book, it won’t be enough (I’m going to try my darnedest to make it enough though ;) ).

What’s important is to get started!

A Conversation With God

Last week I asked you guys to vote on a method you’d like to see me employ to help with figuring out what you want/want to do. The winner was “A Conversation with God” and I posted the conversation on my personal blog.

A Question in an Email

He hasn’t started a blog yet, but I did get one question from Jay Gee. He asked:

Can you do some kind of tutorial vid or maybe a video in which you explain the stuff that helps you get up n pwn life?

Then RIGHT after that question he goes on to say:

I’ve kinda found my own way to pwn life. I make a project for myself each week that somehow makes my life better.

That practically sounds like the definition of Pwning Life! :D To answer his original question, my goal is to eventually create a book/series of videos that explains how to pwn life. When I originally had the idea that’s exactly what I wanted to do. Make one video that explained EVERYTHING. I quickly found out that I wouldn’t be able to do it in one video. I also realized that I lacked the knowledge and experience to (and probably always will :P ). There was so much to cover and talk about. Instead it would require a series of videos or a book…

Or… A blog! :D

This will be an ongoing organic “book” which continually explains how to go about pwning life.

What To Do With Those Shiny New Blogs

If you haven’t started your blog, check out this post which explains why you should and how to setup a blog. If you already started a blog, leave a comment below with a link to your blog so we can check it out!

The plan with these shiny new (or dusted off old) blogs is to bring clarity to what it is you want in life, then track your progress in the form of weekly posts. That’s about it! If (like me) you’re using your personal blog to do these posts then you’ll naturally be posting other stuff throughout the week. If you’re making a blog dedicated to pwning life (like this one ;) ) then you could also post book reviews, website reviews, etc. having anything to do with the broad topic that is pwning life. As this site grows, we’ll hopefully connect with other like-minded individuals who will help keep us motivated and move us closer to completing our goals.

Building A Community

This blog/website is in it’s infancy, but I want you guys to know that I (miltownkid) am not the focus of this blog. I have my own personal blog already. YOU, the community and the idea of Pwning Life are the focus of this blog. Don’t just leave comments here, take some time (if you haven’t already) to venture away from this post and comment on some of the blogs listed above. Who knows what kind of help you could provide (or what kind of help they could provide you!)

Also, I don’t want to be the only one writing articles and doing videos for this site. If you ever have an idea for a guest post or guest video about pwning life that you’d like to submit to this site let me know!

Cheers for the shoutout man. The page seems like a good idea, I know i clicked around trying to find other peoples blogs, would be useful to have them all in one place. May be a bit of a chore to keep updating though!

I’m liking the idea of a page with everyone on it! Definitely would help with keeping track of everyone who is pursuing this :) .

  4. Tyler says:

Yes, I agree with the page as well.

I’m not entirely sure how we’d go about this, but it’s just a thought:
What if the page kept track of everyone’s progress?
    and/or
What if there was like… a weekly recap (in form of a post) of everyone’s progress in a certain week?

Just an idea. I know the latter might take more time than need be.

This is depressing. Did everyone else, except me, quit?

I was on the edge on if I should post what I have to post, and I’m deciding to post it anyway and continue on with it even if the group died. You’ll see it by atleast tomorrow, at the very latest.

By the way, I love Nassim Taleb’s work. Hope you enjoy it, it’s really thought-provoking.

I haven’t quit. ;) I don’t think anyone else has either. They’re just not as hype as you (and me) are. I was thinking today about ways of having more things going on during the week. If you haven’t setup a Twitter account yet, do that. That’s an easy way for us to check in throughout the week. I posted an update today about how Gabe said he’s delayed because he’s going to start posting on Mondays.

I was also thinking that we could come up with weekly/monthly mini missions to do. Plus a we grow and have more people there will be plenty of stuff to stay busy with. :)

      • Tyler says:

Ah, alright! Now I’m all excited again.

By the way, I’m already following you and the PwningLife twitter, and I just sent you a message on there. My twitter is @brokenvai.

The missions sound great. And the above (“… things going on during the week.”, if that’s not apart of the missions) sounds great as well. I’d think it’d really do the community better if we were to interact more. :D I’m really excited for all of this. I can’t wait for it to grow into something bigger. But all great things started out as smaller things. /end-ramble

        It’s gonna be awesome.

        Cheers,

        Ty
